Multifaceted.

Born and raised in Nashville, Paula Ali (she/her) is a half-Persian Director, Performer, and Choreographer whose artistry breaks barriers and tells stories that demand to be felt. With a BFA in Musical Theatre from Auburn University and a professional certificate from Cap21, Paula’s journey from the stage to the director’s chair has been nothing short of electrifying.

Her work is unapologetically bold, centering narratives for femme-identifying POC and women of color while weaving moments of laughter and gut-wrenching honesty. Whether shaping movement on stage, directing transformative productions, or crafting powerful visuals, Paula’s mission is clear: to make space for the stories that need to be heard and hold up a mirror to the complexities of humanity.

From directing acclaimed projects like The Jason Williams Experience at Alvin Ailey and The Bad in Each Other by Alexander Perez, to assisting on Broadway’s Chicken and Biscuits, Paula’s credits showcase a dynamic range and a fearless commitment to her craft. Beyond her professional achievements, her activism and art are inseparably intertwined—a love letter to her parents’ legacy of bravery and service.

Paula is also the co-founder of Too Many Of Us, a nonprofit organization created alongside Denise Manning. This initiative strives to demystify, educate, fund, and support communities through mental health services, reflecting Paula's deep commitment to creating positive, tangible change.

Paula’s work pulses with energy, intention, and an unapologetic passion for truth-telling. Every project she touches strives to push boundaries, amplify underrepresented voices, and leave audiences laughing, crying, and reflecting.

Paula believes that art without activism is not art. Her work stands for Black Lives Matter, LGBTQIA+ rights, women’s rights, universal healthcare, and a free Palestine. Zan Zendegi Azadi. Through movement, storytelling, and her magnetic presence, Paula challenges, inspires, and connects.
